CHAMBER News:
The Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the opening of the new Smoothie & Milkshake Shop at Mesa Top Games & Toys with a ribbon cutting at 1247B Central Ave.
Carolyn Cowan owns both Mesa Top Games & Toys and L.A. Bootery, which are co-located in the same space. Known for their fantastic selection of boots, shoes, board games and toys, the location just got a little tastier!
After completing the Los Alamos Business Accelerator program this spring, Cowan said she is thrilled to announce their expansion to include smoothies and milkshakes. This new addition has brought a delightful twist to the shopping and gaming experience, providing a perfect treat while browsing or playing.
Smoothies are crafted from frozen fruit with sweet sorbets and fruit juices. Whether you’re a fan of classic strawberry-banana or eager to try something new like the Pajarito Pomegranate, the smoothie bar will have something for everyone. And for those who crave a little indulgence, the milkshakes will be just the ticket. With a variety of flavors to choose from, there’s sure to be a favorite for every member of the family. More options will be added soon as they refine the menu and add final equipment.
“I really enjoy watching customers take a sip of their smoothies and seeing how much their faces light up with a smile,” Assistant Manager Kai Dumbledore said.
This expansion is more than just a new product offering; it’s a reflection of Cowan’s commitment to serving the needs of the community. The necessity for quality footwear was the beginning of the journey when L.A. Bootery opened in 2021, followed by a strong demand for games and toys. Adding another eatery option with grab-and-go healthy food was a dream she said she is excited to realize.
“Credit for making this happen has to go to the community members who support our small businesses, the Business Accelerator program by Los Alamos MainStreet and the Chamber of Commerce for providing critical contacts and information as well as financial support, and the ARPA grant administered by Los Alamos County,” Cowan said.
She acknowledges the patience of regular customers during remodeling as well as the super efforts of her employees in adapting to and facilitating this change.
“Most everyone who comes in more than once notices that we are continuously updating the store and, hopefully, making improvements,” Cowan said.
Next time you need to cool off this summer, stop in, say hello, and enjoy a refreshing drink while you explore the latest selection of shoes, boots, board games and toys. Hours and options can be found on the website, mesatopgames.com.
