Los Alamos County Council Honors Former Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board Chair Linda Deck

COUNTY News: 

Los Alamos County Council recognized former Lodger’ Tax Advisory Board Chair Linda Deck for her 11 years of service to the board during the Tuesday night council meeting.

In honor of Deck’s work, a proclamation was presented, which Councilor David Izraelevitz read:

WHEREAS: the Council would like to recognize Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board chair Linda Deck, who is resigning from the Board following a total of 11 years of service; and

WHEREAS: Linda served four terms on the Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board, beginning October 2007 to December 2009, from December 2009 to December 2012, then from December 2016 to December 2019, and December 2019 to December 2022; and

WHEREAS: Linda, in her position as director of the Bradbury Science Museum of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, shared her perspective and experience as a seasoned tourism professional with the LTAB team as well as the County Council and staff; and

WHEREAS: In her role as one of two tourism industry business representatives,  as prescribed state statute and county code regarding Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board composition, Linda provided unique input as a tourism marketer and a Los Alamos County resident. She also sought to understand and address issues of the lodging, hospitality, retail, and County government representatives on the board; and

WHEREAS: Linda offered unique input regarding tourism marketing priority projects and issues and the expenditure of Lodgers’ Tax Revenues during her tenure serving on LTAB; and

WHEREAS: Linda fully engaged with and committed to her role and service on the Board, providing leadership and strategic input regarding Board initiatives and volunteering to serve as chair for the majority of her tenure; and

WHEREAS: Linda served as the public face of the Board, making many of the annual presentations about the board’s work plan priorities and achievements to the County Council and participating in tourism conferences and events; and

WHEREAS: Linda is a thoughtful leader, a positive communicator, and a reliable and inspiring team player; she facilitated a higher standard for progress and achievement on the Board and made every meeting fun and productive.

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby recognize and applaud Linda Deck for her twelve years of service on the Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board. We thank Linda for her dedication and service to County government over the last 13 years. Her presence and leadership will be truly missed.
