Transportation Board Chair
On Thursday, Oct. 5, the Los Alamos County Transportation Board met. Daniel Blea, the County Traffic and Streets Manager presented updates to the county snow and ice removal plan. After discussion, the board approved the plan.
The main point of board discussion was support for the excellent work of county staff and the need for communication with county residents about how they can help county staff. One challenge for county staff working on snow removal after a storm is vehicles parked on the street. The board and county staff discussed various ways to communicate that snow removal by the county can be improved with the help of residents.
One moment of levity during the meeting occurred when Daniel Blea showed his prototype snow and ice removal croc sandals (with a plow blade and headlights).
The transportation board welcomed new member Karen Edwards for her first in-person board meeting. Other topics during the meeting included a brief update from the bicycle safety group and a discussion of traffic safety in the Western Area.
The next meeting of the transportation board is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 and it will be held in a hybrid mode. Public comment is welcome and encouraged.
