Los Alamos County Updates Community On Vaccine And Testing Locations And Resources  

COUNTY News:

With many local COVID resources changing hours and services to better accommodate the most common requests from the public, Los Alamos County felt it important to update the public with the latest options and locations for COVID testing and vaccines.

COVID-19 TESTING LOCATIONS  

Anyone who needs to be tested for COVID-19, the following resources are available:

Curative Shallow Nasal Swab Testing in Los Alamos

Register first: Visit the Curative website at https://curative.com to schedule a date and time.

Testing Dates & Times: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday

Test Results: Results will be sent via text or email (approx. 24-72 hours)

Vault: At-Home Saliva COVID-19 Testing

NMDOH and Vault Medical Services have teamed up to offer at-home COVID-19 saliva testing for any person who believes they need to be tested, with or without symptoms, at no cost.

1) Order the test from Vault;
2) Log on for a virtual visit with a Vault test supervisor learn how to collect a saliva sample;
3) Ship the sample to the lab using a prepaid UPS package; and
4) Results provided within 24 to 48 hours after the sample arrives at the lab.

(NOTE: If individuals are taking a COVID-19 test to satisfy employer policies – check with the employer as to which test types are acceptable. For example, some employers may not accept “Rapid Tests”. On the NMDOH website, individuals can filter by “Testing Type”, in addition to location, site type, etc.)

COVID-19 VACCINE CLINIC LOCATIONS

Anyone who needs to be vaccinated for COVID-19, or needs to get the 3rd dose, the following resources are available:

Visit the NMDOH website at https://goodtimes.vaccinenm.org/stay-ahead-nm/. From this site you can schedule an appointment, find a vaccine location, or access your profile. Individuals can determine if they are eligible for the 3rd dose and resister at https://vaccinenm.org/my-registration.html

Who is eligible to get the Pfizer 3rd Dose (Booster)?

The CDC recommends the following individuals should receive a booster shot:

  • Individuals 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series
  • Individuals aged 50 to 64 with certain underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series

In addition, the CDC identified groups that may receive a booster shot as well:

  • Individuals 18 to 49 who are at high risk for severe COVID-19 due to certain underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks
  • Individuals aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks
