COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Golf Course will be closed Monday, May 9 for greens aerification. Tee times will be available beginning 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 10.
Because the putting green receives more traffic than any other playing surface, the aeration process helps relieve the compactions caused by the additional traffic. It also helps create a firm, smooth putting surface by controlling thatch and promoting healthy turf roots.
Typically, the golf course will aerate the greens one to three times a season.
Anticipated dates for aerification at the Los Alamos County Golf Course:
- May 9 Greens Aerification, course closed;
- May 10 9:00 am First Tee Time;
- June 20 & 21 Ninja Tine Application on Greens;
- Front 9 closed June 20
- Back 9 Closed June 21
- September 14 Greens Aerification, course closed; and
- September 15 9 a.m. First Tee Time.
