LAMS News:

A group of students at Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS) are introducing a new project to the community: donation boxes.

So what is this project? This is their Powerful Voices, Powerful Change project, a service project done by the Los Alamos Middle School speech and debate team every year. For their project, they chose a donation drive for homeless families and their children. Over 2,000 people living in New Mexico are currently homeless, and this number is increasing. They want to help these families by donating items to them through different shelters.

So, what can you donate? Students are collecting donations that come directly from the shelter’s wishlists.

This includes:

  • clothing (socks, shirts, etc.);
  • toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo, feminine hygiene products) and;
  • cleaning supplies.

Donations are being collected in places all around Los Alamos, including Village Arts, Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, First United Methodist Church, the Christian Church, and Los Alamos Middle School.
