LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) Criminal Investigations Unit arrested four people this morning, June 18, during Operation L.E.A.D (Law Enforcement Against Drugs), a LAPD drug sweep.
The operation began around 7 a.m. and resulted from four months of work by the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.
Cmdr. Daniel Roberts confirmed that the operation was successful and there were no injuries while taking suspects into custody at several local residences. Cmdr. Roberts said investigators recovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and that future arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
Arrests include:
- Male juvenile, 16, charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of criminal solicitation to wit aggravated battery, one count of conspiracy to commit trafficking;
- Female Juvenile, 16, charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled substance in a school zone;
- Female Juvenile, 16, charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled substance in a school zone; and
- Isaiah Jones, 18, charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled substance.
“This investigation is ongoing and part of LAPD’s efforts to keep illegal drugs out of our community and away from our youth in Los Alamos County,” Cmdr. Roberts said. “Operation L.E.A.D had many moving parts. This was a team effort, where Patrol, SRO’s, Detention, Dispatch, and Investigations came together; I am very proud of our employees and their continued commitment to our community.”
Criminal Investigations Unit Supervisor Sgt. Ryan Wolking would like to remind the community to report suspected drug activity and to remain familiar with the dangers of fentanyl and other illicit drugs.
