Staff Report
Los Alamos Public Safety Association (LAPSA) is conducting a raffle for six prizes including a Coleman Trail200 gas-powered mini-bike and helmet.
Tickets are $10 each and are available for purchase at the Friday night Summer Concert Series. The drawing is Aug. 13 and winners need not be present to win.
Other prizes are: National Park Pass with a Bandelier book and film; four-pack of adult all-day lift tickets at Pajarito Mountain; a Pajarito Mountain season ski pass; a custom fire pit; and a 15-minute helicopter ride with Classic Air.
The purpose of LAPSA is to create a forum for senior managers involved in public safety related positions with the Los Alamos region. Members meet to discuss areas of mutual interest, recognize accomplishments and consider what may be done to improve and coordinate public safety activities.
Executive committee members are: Jeff Dare, Oliver Morris, Donna Martinez, Lisa LaPointe-Tafoya and Chris Mamula. Membership consists of representatives of Los Alamos Police Department, Los Alamos Fire Department, Department of Energy Los Alamos Office and Inspector General’s Office, Santa Clara Fire Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations as well as Los Alamos National Laboratory security, emergency response, mission assurance and emergency response personnel.
The Association contributes scholarship funds to the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos, supports the local YMCA and holds an annual banquet to honor an outstanding First Responder of the Year.
