U.S. SENATE News:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement after meeting with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Biden’s nominee to United States Supreme Court:
“Today, I was deeply honored to sit down with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Biden’s historic nominee to the Supreme Court. We discussed her impressive career, including her years of judicial experience, service as a public defender, and bipartisan work at the U.S. Sentencing Commission — all of which make her a distinguished and qualified nominee.” Luján said. “Following our meeting, I’m confident Judge Jackson has the character, expertise, and approach to the rule of law that makes for a great Supreme Court Justice. With such critical issues before the Court that will directly impact New Mexicans, it’s vital that she is confirmed as the first Black woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, ensuring our nation’s highest Court better reflects the American people.”
