Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), the U.S. House Assistant Speaker, issued the following statement on the nomination of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

“The United States is in the middle of a public health crisis that continues to wreak havoc on our most vulnerable communities. Xavier is a compassionate and focused leader.
