LWV Lunch With A Leader Features Los Alamos Deputy County Manager Anne Laurent

Deputy County Manager Anne Laurent

LWV News:

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos (LWV) monthly community event, Lunch with a Leader, is noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 via zoom.

Los Alamos Deputy County Manager Anne Laurent is the featured speaker. Laurent oversees the County Broadband and Public Relations & Communications divisions within the County Manager’s Office, and the Community Services Department.

She will discuss the Community Services Department and describe its responsibilities, go over how it relates to Pueblo Canyon, the golf course, and why the department spends large sums of money on consultants before having a clear idea what the community would like.

Prior to moving to Los Alamos in 2008 to serve as director of the Capital Projects & Facilities Department, Laurent lived and worked in both Arizona and Michigan as an architect and project manager. She became the Community & Economic Development Director in 2012 when her department was merged with the Community Development Department.
In 2015, Laurent moved to Park City, Utah to serve as their Community Development Director before returning in 2019 to Los Alamos to serve as Public Works Director. She was promoted in 2021 to Deputy County Manager.

Laurent holds a BFA and BArch from the Rhode Island School of Design and a MPA from the University of Colorado-Denver. She is a New Mexico licensed architect and holds PMP (project management) and CEcD (economic development) certifications.
Laurent grew up in Arizona and met her husband Steve Laurent after college while working for Arizona State Parks. After marrying, they moved to Michigan for her husband to attend law school and to be closer to his aging parents. There two children were born in Michigan. After nine years in Michigan, their desire to return to the southwest, especially a place with the rich history and culture of northern New Mexico, brought them to Los Alamos.
The couple moved away from Los Alamos for great job opportunities, but said they truly missed the community of Los Alamos and look forward to living, working, playing and loving Los Alamos for many years to come.
