NMM News:ALBUQUERQUE — Participating New Mexico McDonald’s restaurants across the entire state will be providing FREE breakfast to K – 8th graders (children 15 & under accompanied by a parent/guardian) and teachers with their school I.D., 6-9 a.m. today.
Breakfast includes a choice of Egg McMuffin or Egg White Delight McMuffin, Apple Slices and 1% White Milk or Minute Maid Orange Juice or Apple Juice. Studies show there is a strong link between a wholesome breakfast and better performance in school!
McDonald’s of New Mexico is proud to partner on this program with Dairy MAX – the nonprofit dairy council that represents dairy farm families in New Mexico – and the Dairy Producers of New Mexico.
This FREE Breakfast event highlights the importance of including wholesome milk in our diets. McDonald’s 1% low fat white milk is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, riboflavin, vitamin B12 and pantothenic acid providing a total of 9 essential nutrients kids need for growth and development. Milk is also the #1 food source for vitamin D, calcium and potassium, nutrients most New Mexicans don’t get enough of in their diets.
The FREE breakfast options from McDonald’s are a wonderful part of a daily allowance of nutrition and energy. Examples of nutrition information for each meal combination is as follows:
- Egg McMuffin, Apple Slices & 1% milk jug: 420 calories, 14g fat, 25g protein, 2g dietary fiber & 0g trans fat.
- Egg White Delight McMuffin, Apple Slices and 1% milk jug provides 380 calories, 10g fat, 25g protein,1g dietary fiber & 0g trans fat.
- Egg McMuffin, Apple Slices & Minute Maid Apple Juice: 390 calories, 12g fat, 18g of protein, 2g dietary fiber & 0g trans fat.
- Egg White Delight, Apple Slices & Minute Mail Apple Juice: 350 calories, 8g fat, 17g protein, 1g dietary fiber 0g trans fat.
McDonald’s owners, who are community members and parents themselves, know the importance of starting the day with a nutritious breakfast, which many children do not have before they start their school day.
K–8th grade students must be accompanied by a parent/adult and child must be present. Teachers must present a school I.D. No group redemption allowed. Free breakfast is available while supplies last. No substitutions.
