Meet Thelma Hahn Participating In 2014 Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour

ART News:

This year’s Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour is Oct. 11-12 and the Los Alamos Daily Post is featuring a “Get to Know Your Artist” series leading up to the annual event.

Each of the 16 artists participating in the tour will be showcased prior to the beginning of the tour to allow our readers an opportunity to learn about them and their work.

Meet Los Alamos artist Thelma Hahn:

When I was 4 years old a gentleman asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Immediately I responded, “An artist!” This has been one of my lifetime goals–not to be famous but to use this talent in a productive way.

I love to teach art as I did in the Los Alamos Schools for 26 years and continue to teach in the Art Center at Fuller Lodge, the Espanola Art Center and in my studio, Hahns’ Hands, in White Rock. I strive to help students see the world with new eyes and appreciation.

My art is in private collections throughout America and has been juried into many exhibits. Many different media interests me as I love to explore the possibilities of each material and how many of them interact with each other to give a unique expression of my thoughts and inner images. That is why you will see my work in clay raku, porcelain, cloth mache, gourds, calligraphy, watercolor and cut paper. Some of my efforts will make you smile, others may make you wonder.

For the Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour I shall be sharing space with Fran Stovall.
