The Los Alamos Fire Department is sad to announce the passing of former Capt. John H. Snyder. John died Saturday, Oct. 14 after battling cancer for several months. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Los Alamos High School Griffin Gym.
During his career, John was a Paramedic-Captain and Support Officer. He served the Los Alamos Fire Department from March 31, 2003 to July 4, 2016. Captain Snyder also assisted the New Mexico State Firefighters’ Training Academy as an Instructor. John was known for his quick wit and always greeted anyone he met with a smile. He will be missed.
The LAFD Honor Guard will assemble at the entrance to the gym at 1:30 p.m. to honor John’s arrival. The service will begin promptly at 2 p.m. Parking for emergency vehicles will be across Diamond Drive at Sullivan Field parking lot. Overflow parking arrangements have been made at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church parking lot.
