COUNTY News:
The staff at Mesa Public Library presents Traditional Stories of Northern New Mexico with Folklorist Paulette Atencio.
Join the library for an evening of centuries-old folk tales told with humor and affection by a captivating, professional storyteller! This program is free to the public and will be held live 7-8 p.m. Thursday, July 28 at Fuller Lodge. Content is appropriate for all ages.
Atencio is an independent folklorist and author who delights audiences with cuentos (stories) learned growing up in Peñasco, NM, and a lifetime spent traveling the northern and central parts of the state. She has been a professional, bilingual storyteller for over twenty years and has authored two collections of stories, including Cuentos from Long Ago and Cuentos from My Childhood: Legends and Folktales of Northern New Mexico. These time-honored folktales impart wisdom passed down over hundreds of years, focusing on traditions of the Southwest and universal themes of humor and morality.
Fuller Lodge’s performance area has several doors and windows that will be kept wide open during the presentation. Seating will be spread out as much as possible to provide patrons with more personal space. Patrons are also welcomed to stand up on the second level viewing area to view the program.
