MESA TO MESA News:
ALBUQUERQUE — Mesa to Mesa announced that it recently received a $20,000 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico’s (BCBCNM) Blue Impact SM initiative. The grant will support Mesa to Mesa’s Home Repair from the Heart Program.
Mesa to Mesa provides no-cost home repairs to low-income homeowners, many of whom are elderly or disabled and living in rural locations. The organization collaborates with volunteers or licensed contractors to complete the projects. They are the only nonprofit in Northern New Mexico that provides home repair services to clients free of charge.
“We are extremely grateful for the grant we received from BCBSNM’s Blue Impact grant program,” Mesa to Mesa Executive Director Inez Leibman said. “This funding will help us to provide this service to more low-income homeowners who desperately need home repairs.”
BCBSNM’s Blue Impact grant initiative is part of an ongoing commitment to invest in and collaborate with community organizations that offer sustainable, measurable programs that address the social and economic factors impacting health and wellness in our state. Mesa to Mesa’s commitment to bringing people together to improve the health, safety and security of low-income homeowners aligns with the vision of Blue Impact to improve health outcomes in communities across New Mexico.
“We’re especially proud to support programs that address housing issues in the communities we serve,” BCBSNM President Janice Torrez said. “A family’s health can depend on the quality of their living conditions. Mesa to Mesa’s program is making a direct impact on the lives of New Mexicans by helping them maintain their homes.”
