NMDVS News:
Veterans’ Service Organizations, service providers, agencies and others who wish to be a part of the 2014 Military & Veterans Appreciation Day at the State Fair are invited to attend a meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 at American Legion Post 13, 1201 Mountain Road NE in Albuquerque.
The meeting will be conducted by the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS) and New Mexico State Fair—the two agencies along with the New Mexico Department of Military Affairs, which annually present the tribute at the state fair honoring the men and women of our military.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the rules and regulations which apply to all organizations wanting to have a table, booth or other display along “Main Street” at the fairgrounds on Military & Veterans Day at the State Fair—which this year has been set for September 17. The rules and procedures pertaining to parking, set-up and tear-down will also be outlined.
There are a limited number of available table/booth spaces available this year. Sign-ups will be on a first-come, first served basis and can be made at the meeting. Sign-ups can be made any time after the meeting—but will be subjected to spaces available.
Every year on Military & Veterans Day at the State Fair, all veterans presenting a copy of their veterans-designation state driver’s license, VA Healthcare ID Card, copy of their DD-214 or other legal proof of military separation will be admitted free. All military personnel showing an active-duty/DoD ID card also will be admitted free.
