ICE CLIMBING News:
OURAY, Colo. – Mountain Trip will host a full schedule of ice climbing clinics Jan. 17-22 during the 28th annual Ouray Ice Festival.
The Ouray Ice Fest is one of the biggest celebrations of ice climbing in North America each year. Ice climbers of all skill levels can hone their skills while training with Mountain Trip’s AMGA-trained or certified guides at one of the premier ice climbing venues in the world.
Mountain Trip is offering five ice climbing clinics across multiple days, from first-timers ice climbing to advanced climbers wanting to master their technique or tackle steep ice. New for 2023, Mountain Trip will host five-hour clinics with additional supervised climbing time after instruction for participants to get the most out of their day.
“We’re thrilled to support the Ouray Ice Fest and celebrate the growing sport of ice climbing,” Mountain Trip Co-owner Todd Rutledge said. “The event is a gathering of people from around the world combining competitions, gear demos and educational opportunities. Our clinics are a great way for climbers to learn skills they can take into the local backcountry or bigger objectives around the world.”
Mountain Trip’s acquisition of Peak Mountain Guides in Ouray last fall increased the brand’s permitted access throughout the Southwest, with a focus on the Ouray Ice Park. Visitors can stop by Mountain Trip’s newly established office in downtown Ouray at 801 Main St. during Ice Fest. In addition to guiding at the Ouray Ice Park, Mountain Trip offers guided ice climbing, avalanche courses and backcountry skiing in the area. Clinics registration and more details are available on Mountain Trip’s website.
