SALA Los Alamos Event Center is thrilled to announce a unique cultural experience for the Los Alamos community, as it hosts the acclaimed production of Vanya, a one-man adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya starring celebrated actor Andrew Scott. This exclusive screening, captured live from London’s West End, will take place at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21 at SALA.
This event marks the beginning of SALA’s partnership with National Theatre Live, a groundbreaking initiative bringing the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. Since its inception, National Theatre Live has connected global audiences to the magic of theatre, presenting high-caliber productions from London’s top stages. Each screening is expertly filmed to capture the detail, emotion, and impact of live theatre, delivering what audiences describe as “the best seat in the house.”

This bold reimagining of Uncle Vanya, adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Sam Yates, features Andrew Scott (known for Fleabag and Present Laughter) as he brings each character to life with breathtaking skill and intensity. The production has been celebrated for its innovative single-actor approach, with Scott portraying multiple characters seamlessly, exploring themes of love, regret, and the complexities of family life. Critics have praised Vanya as a “remarkable reinvention” of Chekhov’s classic, making it a must-see for theatre lovers.

Tickets for Vanya are available to the general public for $18. As a special benefit, SALA members will receive free admission to this screening and all future National Theatre Live screenings as part of their membership.
This exclusive event at SALA marks the beginning of monthly National Theatre Live screenings, which will take place every third Thursday of the month, offering a rich lineup of acclaimed productions for the community to enjoy.
