NCRTD News:
The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD “Blue Bus”) will assume operation of the Taos Express, currently operated by the Taos Chile Line Jan. 1. At the same time, service to UNM Taos from the Town of Taos will be taken over by the Chile Line.
The RTD Taos Express provides residents and visitors with weekend bus transit between Taos and Santa Fe. As an added service, the NCRTD will commence a stop in Española at its RTD bus stop located in front of the Santa Claran Hotel by the Century Bank. The RTD Taos Express provides connecting service to the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, Santa Fe Trails bus system and Taos Chile Line.
This marks the first time that the NCRTD has provided a weekend service and unlike its 19 fixed routes which are free, the Taos Express operates on a fare system. The fare will remain the same as currently charged at $5 each way between Taos and Santa Fe. Service to and from Taos and Española, and between Santa Fe and Española, will be priced at $2 per trip. Reservations will no longer be required and service will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
The NCRTD has provided bus transit service from the Town to UNM Taos on its UNM Taos Route since 2008. That service will cease Dec. 31 after which service to the University will be provided by the Chile Line.
