NMDOT News:
SANTA FE — Voting is live for the snowplow naming contest and will continue through noon Wednesday, Jan.14.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) launched the snowplow naming contest for the third straight year, and is again inviting New Mexicans to vote on their favorite names.
More than 600 names were submitted this year, and they were even better than we could have imagined. NMDOT communications staff narrowed the entries down to 50 creative, clever, and fun finalists, and now it’s up to New Mexicans to decide which ones rise to the top.
Once voting wraps up, the top 12 names will be announced, assigned to snowplow trucks across the state, and the 2026 winners will earn lifetime bragging rights.
These snowplows play a vital role in keeping New Mexico’s roads safe and communities connected during winter weather, so we love giving them names that reflect their importance and showcase a little local flavor and fun.
