ANNICE CHORN June 20, 1933 – Oct. 21, 2022
Annice Chorn of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in her home on Oct. 21, 2022 at the age of 89.
Annice was born June 20, 1933 in a farmhouse near Jean, Texas along with her triplet sisters Agnes and Janice. She and her husband Granville were married in 1955. Having met while freshmen at Texas Tech University, in her last days Annice was fond of saying that she and Granville had been “sweethearts for 71 years”.
Annice lived with her family in Los Alamos for 27 years beginning in 1971 after which time they moved to Albuquerque in 1998.
She loved downhill skiing, playing tennis, golf, swimming, biking, and hiking. She was a skilled watercolor painter, becoming a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. She loved quilting. She made designer jackets and quilts for all of her grandchildren. She had a passion for music, which she expressed through singing, piano and autoharp. She sang in the church choir for many years and led music at Bible studies. Annice was a strong Christian all of her life, which led her to frequently offer support and prayers to countless friends, coworkers, acquaintances, missionaries, and family members.
Annice is survived by her husband Granville Chorn, daughter Cindy Snow, daughter Sue Oravecz (husband Istvan), son Mic Chorn (wife Lorena), granddaughter Michaela Keck (husband Erick), grandson Simeon Snow (wife Rachel), granddaughter Marlena Chorn, great granddaughter Kate Keck, great granddaughter Ember Snow and sister Agnes Stamps.
Annice was a warm and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her greatest passion in life. We will miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Calvary Church, 4001 Osuna Road NE in Albuquerque.
