DOROTHY MCGRATH April 15, 1925 – Feb. 4, 2022
Dorothy McGrath, 96, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Friday, February 4, 2022.
Born April 15, 1925 in Muir, Mich., Dorothy was the 12th child of Charles and Helen Cusack. In her early 20s, she met the love of her life, William J. McGrath. They married in April 1950 and had 10 children, raising their family in Michigan and New Mexico before retiring to Las Vegas.
During World War II, Dorothy helped in the war effort, and became a registered nurse after the war. Dorothy was a devout Catholic. She taught catechism classes and volunteered for the church, blood donation sites, and election polling stations.
Dorothy instilled in her children the true value of a dollar and a strong work ethic. She will be remembered for her hard work and competitive nature. Even late in life, Dorothy would give you a run in any card game.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her 13 siblings, husband William, children James, Timothy, and Mary Jo, and grandchild Marin.
She is survived by children Pat, Christine (Paul) Wantuck, Michael (Rhonda), Karen (Douglas) Downing, Matthew (Denise), Theresa (Henri) van den Bulk, and Richard (Lori); 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
