Letter to the Editor: Shame On Us Los Alamos!

By PATRICK SORAN
Los Alamos

Shame on us! We are a town built on higher education and we can’t even support our community college.

Disappointing. Perhaps we are just selfish and don’t really care about future generations. After all we got ours. Read More

Letter to the Editor: Thank You Letter to Residents of Los Alamos from UNM-LA

By CEDRIC PAGE, Ph.D.
UNM-LA Executive Director

Dear Residents of Los Alamos,

As Executive Director for UNM-Los Alamos, I want to extend my sincere thanks for the community support we’ve received during our recent special election. It is very rewarding to hear personal stories from our students and alumni about their many positive experiences at UNM-LA. Our contributions to the quality of life in Los Alamos are amplified in the testimonials from those who have had rewarding and, for some, life-altering experiences as a result of their participation in our programs at UNM-LA. Letter to the Editor: Questions and Concerns About Los Alamos Police Department

By DOUG PIPPIN
Los Alamos

I attended the recent public session to meet and listen to the five candidates applying for our chief of police position.

I understood prior to the session that the public would be allowed to ask questions of the candidates – which turned out not to be the case. Letter to the Editor: Mil Levy Bad Idea

By GERALD ANTOS
Los Alamos

Im afraid I have to agree with Erika Gorman that the school levy is a very bad idea. We just learned today at the Lab Director’s talk that our health care costs are probably going to go up more then 11 percent and with the prospect of another 1 percent raise I’m sinking into a hole fast.

In all honesty, why does our County Government think they have to act like a bunch of spoiled brat teens with mommy and daddy’s credit card and an unlimited budget? There doesn’t seem to be one sane person on the Council that can control our tax dollars in any way shape

Letter to the Editor: Illegal Dumping on Esperanza Causes Close Call in Friday’s Rainstorms

By ELLEN WALTON
Los Alamos

On Friday morning we woke to heavy rains and news of region wide flooding. My husband and I have never had flooding before on Esperanza and thought we were safe.

But not this Friday the 13th. The water rose and flowed over the sidewalk and down the steps leading to our front door. As the water came closer to our door, I called the County for help, but there was nothing they could do.

When I looked to the street and up the hill, it dawned on me what was happening. The pile of illegally dumped gravel that had been blocking the right side of the road for three weeks was now washing Read More
