Letter to the Editor: Big Thanx to Mayor Cordova
Every cause needs a negative force to fight and overcome … so it is with saving “The Building” in Eagle Nest, N.M.
The Mayor has obliged by being the villain setting onerous hurdles for the Village to overcome.
Had he, instead, joined forces with his constituents to save the last remnant of Eagle Nest’s earliest history, the citizen effort to preserve it probably would not be so successful – everyone should send a big “Thanx!” to Mayor Richard Cordova!
Plan to attend the Eadle Nest Council Meeting Nov. 20, followed by a week of celebration at the soon-to-be-restored historic Read More
Column: Pain Relief Through Posture Alignment
By Jessica Kisiel M.S.
Do you have joint or muscle pain? It may be your posture. According to the Egoscue Method® of posture alignment the “design posture” of the human body is to have the load-bearing joints of the shoulders, hips, knees and ankles at 90-degree angles to each other from the front and side views.
Stand up and take a look – are your shoulders level, hips square and feet pointed straight ahead?
Deviation from this “design posture” can lead to pain as a result of musculoskeletal dysfunctions and compensations.
Dysfunctions are when the body’s musculoskeletal system Read More
Letter to the Editor: Otowi Station, This Town Will Miss You!
Otowi Station Bookstore and Science Museum Shop closed its doors a few days ago having served Los Alamos/White Rock residents and visitors for almost 20 years.
Before that, its parent store, Ojo de Dios Bookstore, served our community many more years.
Bart and I purchased Ojo de Dios in 1990 from Harold Burnett and expanded it to our brand new Otowi Station site in 1993.
We owned Otowi until late 2005, when Peggy Durbin and Michele Vochosky took over – encountering a very rough business climate.
The store is enveloped in memory. For Read More

Letter to the Editor: Vaccines – My Body My Choice
Respectfully, I must take issue with the tone of Dr. Tom’s Letter to the Editor regarding the group of parents who met with their representative to discuss infringement of personal liberties.
The CDCs Recommended Vaccine Schedule is exactly that, a recommendation and I personally take their opinion into consideration before I make decisions about MY CHILD’s health.
The issue here that Dr. Tom fails to acknowledge is that this is not a vaccine issue but a parental rights issue.
No one is questioning the legitimacy of the vaccination program en mass or their personal physicians Read More
Letter to the Editor: Concern Over Parental Rights, Not Vaccine Program
This is in response to the letter to the editor by Dr. Tom Csanadi, “Vaccines-Elected Officials Should Not Feed Fear and Misinformation.”
There are several of us who were concerned over the recent changes to the vaccine exemption forms through the Department of Health (DOH.)
The concern was not that exemptions must be filed if one does not follow the vaccine schedule rigidly, but rather a concern that there is specific religious information being gathered and some parents were being turned down.
The challenge we parents find ourselves in is not one Read More
Column: A Positive Portrayal – Level-5 Leadership
A Positive Portrayal: Level-5 LeadershipIs it precisely because one does not regard oneself as a leader, or even a potential leader, that one has the real possibility to become a leader?
If true, this is the paradox of true leadership. I am not going back to discuss leaders or managers, but instead discuss the powers which a manager applies to build and sustain an organization. Besides, I owe you some positive examples, don’t I?
The funny thing is that pinpointing the specific achievements of really effective leaders, the achievements that Read More
