Throughout the country, this week is celebrated as “Thank a Teacher” week.
We know here at AFT NM it is more than just the teacher who helps to create a positive environment in our public schools and places of learning – it is the educational assistants, support personnel, nurses, transportation professionals, counselors, facilities personnel, secretaries, and cafeteria workers who all lend a hand to our students’ successful learning.
This is true whether you are in an early education center, a K-12 setting, or at one of our colleges or universities Read More

Fr. Glenn: ‘What IS Truth?’
“What is truth?” – one of the most famous and philosophical lines of the Christian Gospels, uttered musingly by the Roman governor of Judea Pontius Pilate in his dialogue with Jesus prior to Jesus’ condemnation and crucifixion. (John 18:38)
We find that the answer to this poignant, and yet essential, question becoming ever more fleeting and elusive in our day. Daily is news about the rise of artificial intelligence (“AI”) and its ever-increasing ability to mimic authors, poets, artists, etc., until reproductions and “works” are almost indistinguishable from the original Read More

“Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra calls on us to become conscious of our habitual patterns and the residue they leave behind. Repetitive action leaves an imprint. These imprints are referred to as samskaras (pronounced sum-scar-ahs) – Robin Rothenberg.
“They (samskaras) influence the way we think and move, the way we act and breathe and even the basic conditioning of the respiratory system, nervous system, immune function and all the subtle operational systems of the body.” – Michael Stone.
Because of these ruts, habits or tracks, everything we do in Read More
