Ortega: Christmas Memories
By LIL ORTEGA
Los Alamos
This time of year I fondly recall the Christmas Season and all the traditions that were so ingrained in me while growing up in a small town in Central New Mexico.
I always woke up on Christmas Eve morning to the smell of posole wafting into my upstairs bedroom. My mother, Conception would be up at the crack of dawn beginning to prepare all the foods that we would eat on Christmas Eve.
I would arise and the kitchen windows would be all fogged up from the steam coming out of the posole pot. Mama would let me have a taste or two of the corn, which was still a bit undercooked but was already Read More

To learn what is going on, I trade thoughts with many folks on the left and the right, with some hybrids mingled in. An accounting of their political views would take reams of words. The mix of feedback I get is a study in democracy.
To skip details, we have a cryptic color code. Many shades of thought from liberal to conservative, from “progressives” to “MAGAs”, are reduced to “blue” and “red.” Varieties across the board agree with points I raise below. So, any sharp dispute lands on whose schemes are worse.

The winter holiday season brings great things like Christmas, New Year’s celebrations, delicious food, and time with family. In a child’s eyes, and for some adults, the winter holiday season means snow – which is a great thing. Building snowmen and igloos, riding a sled down a hill, having a snow ball fight, Read More
An Open Book: Hoy, Dios es Argentino
By DAVID IZRAELEVITZ
Los Alamos
I had it all figured out. I could watch the World Cup final and we could still make it to Popejoy Hall in time to park and grab a quick bite before the matinee. Argentina was winning 2-0. Time was running out for France.
Somehow France didn’t agree that time was running out, so they scored two late goals, threw the game into extra time, and messed it all up for me. I jumped from the couch and ran to the computer to google “world cup final on the radio.” Making my way to a free SiriusXM 3-month introductory subscription, I performed the necessary credit card incantations and Read More
Scott: Looking Back On Council Service

Los Alamos County Councilor
First I’d like to thank all of the community members, staff and my fellow Council members who invest their time and energy to actively engage in keeping our community the wonderful place it is to live, work, and play while taking steps to address challenges and make Los Alamos and White Rock even better in the future.

Hi, this is Keith Lepsch, I am the newest Councilor and was appointed in April to fill a vacancy on County Council. Overall, I would like to start by stating that while I am still gaining experience with the County operations and the government processes, I have been very impressed and pleased by all of the County staff and systems Read More
