By KURT ANAST, KEVIN HOLSAPPLE and REID PRIEDHORSKY
Los Alamos

As this year comes to a close, the golf course improvement effort continues to be unresolved, but hopefully Council will provide the guidance necessary to remedy this at their Dec. 13 meeting.

In an effort to provide concise guidance from a cross section of the community, members from golfing, hiking and open space have examined the project, discussed the various options and elements of the project and we would like to suggest the following path forward to Council.

  1. Phase I: Take Care of what you have.

Skolnik: The ‘Tripledemic’ – What Else Can We Do?

By RICHARD SKOLNIK
Los Alamos

The “tripledemic” in NM continues. The week of Nov. 26, influenza cases in New Mexico were at their highest rates in three years and climbing. The rates of RSV (respiratory synctial virus) that week were declining but were more than twice as high as any time in the last two years. Right now, NM has the third highest rate of COVID of any state.

To compound our woes, there have been widespread shortages of an antibiotic commonly given to children and store shelves in Los Alamos and Española are empty of children’s pain relievers, like acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

Holsapple: Movie Night Is Back In Los Alamos!

Los Alamos

Tuesday was a red-letter day for me. Movie night in Los Alamos was back! My wife Kris and I stopped for a beer at the Tub, a spicy tuna roll (and other good stuff) at Origami and made our way over to Sala to see “You Resemble Me’ – a well-made independent film about a difficult life lived far away. The movie part of this wasn’t an option until last night and we are so glad that it is now a possibility in our community once again.

It was pretty easy. We bought our tickets ahead of time online at the Sala website (sala.losalamos.com) but we could have just shown up and bought them Read More

Weekly Fishing Report: Dec. 6, 2022

By GEORGE MORSE
Sports And Outdoors
Los Alamos Daily Post

This is a slow time of the season for anglers. Many lakes and streams are freezing over. However, the ice is not yet thick enough to open the lakes to ice fishing.

Conditions at lakes on State Parks can be obtained by calling the individual parks. Conditions at lakes not located on State Parks can be obtained from local sources. Use extreme caution on lakes where the ice conditions are unknown.

Once the ice conditions improve, ice fishing can be good at several locations. Eagle Nest Lake probably offers the best ice fishing. Fenton Lake State Read More
