Residents of Oppenheimer Place Condos have many reasons to be grateful for the life of the late Roger Waterman.
In June 2016 they celebrated their 20th anniversary in the handsome building. Roger gave a summary of his experiences as manager of design, serving funding and having contractors and supervising many issues of such a large project.
He was cheerful and smiling, as usual. Those of us on the committee to study senior housing in early 1990s Read More

Both postures stretch the muscles of the abdomen, chest, shoulders and thoracic muscles, but one is passive and one is more active.

The Case For A BMX Track In Los Alamos
By HAIDEN JORGENSON
Sophomore

A few years ago, I would go down to the BMX track in Albuquerque a few times throughout the year. Despite my love for the sport, I could not frequently participate because the 2-hour drive to Albuquerque was too time-consuming.
According to the Sports Planning Guide, BMX has been on the rise over the last decade, and from the years 2013 to 2016, made a 43 percent jump in people riding bikes, making it one of the hottest outdoor sports. All of these new people who have gotten into BMX over the last few years have created an amazing, supportive community. Read More
Honors Courses Are Being Phased Out
By KAELLIN HANSON
Sophomore
Los Alamos High School
When I signed up for two Honors courses and one AP course this year, I thought that the Honors course would have the same Grade Point Average (GPA) boost as the AP course that I was taking. When I realized I wouldn’t receive a GPA boost for an Honors courses, I was shocked. In taking the Honors course the student takes on more homework and, a harder time with mental health, and a more difficult class than their on level counterparts, and they are able to put more emphasis on the topics they are interested in.
Over time with a more advanced course Read More
Leonard: The 5 Things All Centenarians Have In Common
By LAURA LEONARD
Doctor of Chiropractic
I came across a YouTube video this week that featured an interview with George Jedenoff, one of the oldest skiers to ever shred the slopes of Alta in Utah.
The last video I could find was made in 2019 when he was just a mere youngster at the ripe old age of 101. This man is filled with plenty of sage advice for how he is still hitting the slopes and an inspiration to those of us who want to stay active for as long as possible.
Alas the topic for this week’s column was found following a rabbit trail of videos and articles for much longer than I care to admit. Fortunately, it Read More
