PAC 8
PAC 8 is your local community media center and television station. We have been part of Los Alamos for almost 50 years! We are holding our annual on-line spring auction March 20-31, 2025. This is a fundraiser and we are looking for donations from the community. The auction will be seen at pac8cmc.com.
PAC 8 has been an asset to the community over the years. We have a great summer education program. Every year, around 100 students ages 7 to 17 enjoy learning video production skills at PAC 8. In 2021, PAC 8 teamed up with the Los Alamos Teen Center and we started our Summer Film Intensive program for teenagers.
This summer we will continue the 3 week program for the fifth consecutive year. PAC 8 was the first step for students who went on to successful careers in video and commercial television. Former PAC 8 students now have successful careers in Hollywood, Denver, Albuquerque and other places. One even worked on a Harry Potter film and several Jurassic Park films.
PAC 8 worked with the Reel Deal Theater for 14 years helping to promote local businesses and organizations by producing ads and PSAS that were shown before movies. As the Reel Deal Theater closed during the pandemic and SALA Event Center’s recent opening, PAC 8 is once again producing affordable local videos that play before the movies and on websites.
PAC 8 Executive Director got her FAA Certified Remote Pilot’s License and has been offering drone classes to middle school, high school students and adults. PAC 8 hopes to expand their drone services in the community.
PAC 8 records and airs many community events and programs such as Los Alamos High School Graduation, Historical Society lectures, Chamber of Commerce events, Los Alamos Mountaineers interviews, J.R.Oppenheimer Memorial Committee. Dance Arts Los Alamos and much more. PAC 8 provides other services to the community such as transferring and digitizing media and free technical help for citizens. We also offer free public service announcements on our channel to any individual or organization in Los Alamos.
PAC 8 has a total annual budget of less than $100,000. This includes everything – scholarships for kids, salaries, video production equipment, travel, insurance and much more. PAC 8 really stretches their dollars! We are a non-profit organization. Please consider making a donation of an item for our silent auction. Our annual fundraiser helps keep us going.
