The Los Alamos Public Library will host a Smartphone Photography 101 workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at the White Rock Branch Library multipurpose room.

Toppers Fall To Pojoaque Elks 46-58
The Los Alamos Toppers hosted the Pojoaque Elks Friday night in a conference game played in Griffith Gymnasium. The Toppers trailed for most of the game and the Elks pushed ahead to win 46-58. The Gym was at capacity for the exciting game with both teams’ cheerleaders rooting for their teams, and the Topper Drum Line added to the excitement. Several lakes in Northeast New Mexico will open for fishing Feb. 28. Morphy Lake State Park, Clayton Lake State Park, Charette Lakes and Maxwell Lake 13 will open after being closed for the winter. Clayton Lake was stocked Feb. 18 with 4,001 rainbow trout in preparation for the opener.
Be sure to call 575.377.1594 to check on ice conditions at Eagle Nest Lake. The weather forecast indicates a warming trend so ice conditions may deteriorate.
Fenton Lake is still not open for ice fishing. There is some open water.

The Toppers traveled to Pojoaque Saturday afternoon to play a Conference game against the Elkettes in Ben Lujan Gymnasium. The Toppers trailed for most of the game but managed to tie the game 32-32 at the end of the 4th quarter, prompting overtime during which the Elkettes made their shots and won 35-37. SAMUEL ‘BO’ HUEY Feb. 8, 1979 – Feb. 12, 2026
Samuel “Bo” Huey, son of Samuel Huey Jr. and Loretta “Jeanie” McCleary Huey of Dexter, Missouri, was born on February 8, 1979, in Sikeston, Missouri, and departed this life on February 12, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 47 years.
Mr. Huey was of the Catholic faith, a former member of the Missouri National Guard and a farmer for Chris Porter. Bo enjoyed farming and being outside.
On October 9, 2025, in Bernie, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Rachel Blevins. Mrs. Huey survives in their home in Bernie.

In response to the dry and warm winter season and associated wildfire concerns, Los Alamos County is expanding curbside bulk brush collection services offered to residents during the weeks of Feb. 23, March 9, and March 23.
Please note the following guidelines and limitations, which help ensure that the curbside collection process runs smoothly and efficiently:
- Residents must sign up and schedule a bulk pickup by contacting Environmental Services by phone at 505.662.8163 or email at solidwaste@losalamonm.gov.
- A maximum of 15 bulk service
