Step Up Gallery Encourages Los Alamos County Employees To Submit Art For 2025 Showcase

STEP UP GALLERY News:

The 2nd biennial Los Alamos County Employee Art Showcase will run Dec. 4 to Jan. 7, 2026 in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library.

This year, retired Los Alamos County employees as well as current employees are invited to submit art they create, including photography.

The official “Call for Art (CFA)” for this exhibit is available to download now at: https://stepupgallery.org/call-for-art/. The application is due by Nov. 10. New Mexico Department Of Transportation And Greyhound Partner To Expand Bus Operations

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and Greyhound, a Flix North America brand and the nation’s largest provider of intercity bus transportation, announce the launch of new intercity bus services for New Mexico.

The need for the route was identified in the Statewide Public Transportation Plan and will run between Albuquerque, Farmington, Bernalillo, Cuba and into Durango, Colo.

The new service line will run five days a week, with one round trip each day, providing access to Navajo Transit and Red Apple Transit in Farmington.  Read More

Section Of Cañada Del Buey Trail To Temporarily Close For Wildfire Mitigation Beginning Oct. 14

COUNTY News:

For public safety and in coordination with the Los Alamos County Manager’s Office, the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) will temporarily close a section of the Cañada del Buey Trail beginning Tuesday, Oct. 14, for the final phase of its wildfire fuels reduction project.

This marks the third and final phase of LAFD’s ongoing mitigation efforts aimed at reducing fire risk, protecting nearby neighborhoods, and preserving natural landscapes.

Crews will thin 5 to 9 acres to remove ladder fuels and create a strategic fuel break. Work is expected to last about one week, through Oct. Read More

SNAP Benefit Rule Changing Nov. 1 For Households Without Older Adults Or People With Disabilities In New Mexico

SANTA FE— Starting Nov. 1, new federal requirements will change how energy assistance is counted when determining Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit amounts for more than 32,000 New Mexicans.

The change, required under federal law H.R.1, affects how energy assistance payments are applied during SNAP eligibility determinations. The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) is helping SNAP customers understand and prepare for these federally required changes so households who remain eligible for the energy expense deduction continue to receive it.
