COMMUNITY EVENTS:
Festival of Trees will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The festive fun includes; free pictures with Santa, an arts and crafts fair, a silent auction of more than 60 holidays trees, wreaths, ornaments, quilts and more.

I-25 Southbound Lane Closures
NMDOT News:
SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Geotechnical Section will begin sampling material on upper La Bajada Hill off of the I25 southbound shoulders from the Waldo Exit (MP 267) to the Cochiti Exit (MP 265).
The sampling and testing of material will start Wednesday, Nov. 20 and continue over the next few days. There will be intermittent right lane and left lane closures Wednesday through Friday. The lane closures will be in effect 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the work is anticipated to be completed by Friday, Nov. 22, weather permitting. Read More
Highlights From November County Administrator’s Report to Council

County News:
County Administrator Harry Burgess included the following project highlights in his November report to Council:
- Golf Course Community Building: Good progress, with anticipated completion date January/February 2014.
- Teen Center: RFP for design services should be advertised this month, and could begin latter part of 2014. Several stakeholders meetings will occur during design process.

Power Outage in Pajarito Acres
Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities officials reported a power outage affecting 660 customers in the Piedra Loop, Rio Bravo, Monte Rey areas at 1:30 a.m., Saturday morning.
The outage was due to a power pole and overhead cross arm failure. At 3:30 a.m., 650 customers had power restored, and at noon Saturday the remaining 10 customers had their power restored following the installation of a new air break switch.

Texting While Driving … Lethal Distraction
STATE News:
Gov. Susana Martinez is encouraging New Mexico’s teenagers to prevent fatal motor vehicle accidents by not texting and driving.
Martinez’s announcement comes during “National Teens Don’t Text and Drive Week.” The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that 21 percent of teenagers in fatal crashes were killed because of drivers distracted by cell phone use.
