In an unprecedented win, Suyana Ferreria of Los Alamos earned nine gold and one silver medal for the Atomic Tumblers at their first away meet of the season.
Sixteen Atomic Tumblers attended the meet at Taos, seven gymnasts competed in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic (JO) Program, seven in the USA Gymnastics Xcel Program, and two, Suyana Ferreria and Anna Clark, competed in both.

Saturday night will feature quite a spectacular sight. Hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins will decorate the lawn at Fuller Lodge.
The event, known as the Pumpkin Glow, will be 6-9 p.m. and while there is no admission fee, donations to the Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC), which organizes the event, are welcomed.

ANDREW EDWARD LONG Nov. 17, 1924–Sept. 23, 2013
Andrew Edward Long was born Nov. 17, 1924 in Bartlesville, Okla., to Wesley Brooks Long and Annis Marie Henderson.
He passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bonnie J. Scott Long; his son, Timothy E. Long of Santa Fe; and his daughter, Andra J. Long Riordan of Albuquerque; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Andy served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and, like most Oklahomans of the time, put food on the Read More

Police Alert Community of Stolen Checks
POLICE NEWS:
The Los Alamos Police Department has recently become aware of numerous cases where outgoing mail containing checks in residential mailboxes have been stolen.
The checks are then altered by the suspect, and cashed at local financial institutions. We are aware of mail that has been stolen in White Rock, Espanola and Santa Fe. Although the police department is currently working on leads in these cases, we urge community members to place outgoing mail into large post office mail drops or pay bills online.

Bronson is a 5-month-old pit mix. He is currently in foster care, and his foster mom can’t say enough good things about him.
From a recent email update about Bronson, his foster mom reported that with a low-key foster environment, he is really starting to come out of his shell. Bronson is still a bit dependent on other dogs for confidence, and would love to have a dog buddy in the house to help show him the ropes and give him a little more confidence.
