George E. Stephens Jr. died July 31, 2013 at 89 years of age. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50-plus years, Faith (Fridlington); sisters Dorothy, Fonda, Hazel, Maxine and Vera; and brother John.
He is survived by his children Janice and George; grandchildren Casey and Jessie, Jonathan, and Shanna; sisters Joanne (husband Clyde) Jones, and Betty (husband Bob) Smith; sisters-in-law Phyllis Stephens, Shirley Biddle, and Norma Ripkey; and brother-in-law Fred (wife Michelle) Fridlington.

Andrew Hollis began attending UNM-Los Alamos two years ago, when he was 16. Hollis is a homeschooled student who is entering the equivalent of his senior year in high school this fall.
“UNM-LA gives me classroom experience, which is important for homeschoolers. I appreciate the experience of meeting deadlines and doing homework on time,” Hollis said.

Just short of his 95th birthday, our adored father left his cares behind and joined our mother, his most beloved wife, Sally. They were married for 65 years and can now pick up where they left off just a few years ago.
Dad was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his BS from Case School of Applied Sciences and returned to Case for night school to earn his MS in Metallurgical Engineering. For two years he worked for Republic Steel Corp, then returned to Case to work in a research and development program.

A group called The Female Brainpower Initiative (FBI) will begin meeting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Archerd Eli Youngblood, 87, a resident of Los Alamos and formerly of Palmer Township and Hellertown, Pa., passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe. Archerd was born April 25, 1926, in Evansville, Ind., and was the son of the late Leland Masters Youngblood and Nina Archerd.
On Sept. 10, 2009, Archerd and his late wife Atea Greco Youngblood celebrated 60 years of marriage. After his wife passed away, he moved to Los Alamos where he met his second wife, Marjorie Orth, whom he married Sept. 24, 2011. Archerd retired
