In a unanimous decision, the Court rejected arguments by Lalo Anthony Castrillo IV that there was not enough evidence for the jury to find that he caused the death of Faviola Rodriguez and that he was wrongly denied a new trial.

The child died while Castrillo was babysitting the toddler overnight when the mother, his girlfriend, was working. An autopsy showed acute head and brain injuries inflicted about the time of Read More

Catch Of The Week: Imposter Claude

By REBECCA RUTHERFORD
Los Alamos
For the Los Alamos Daily Post

If you have been using or thinking about using Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant, this one is for you. Researchers at Sophos just published findings on a fake Claude website that has been quietly handing out malware to anyone who clicks “download.” Yikes!

The fake site, “claude-pro[.]com”, looks a little like the real thing. Same general color palette, similar fonts. But it is stripped down and mostly non-functional, which should be a red flag for users that something is fishy.

What it does offer is a download link for something called Read More

By SHERRY ROBINSON

Our races for governor have entered stupid territory.

We’ve heard about one candidate’s ride on Epstein’s plane, another candidate’s four homes and a third candidate’s lawsuit challenging universal childcare.

Look away from the mudslinging and focus on issues, and you might notice that Deb Haaland, the Democratic frontrunner with the biggest war chest, has nothing to say about the economy or economic development. Two Republican candidates, Doug Turner and Duke Rodriguez, aren’t much better. Both seem to be saying, “I’m a businessman. Read More

Los Alamos

Over the past two months I had the opportunity to be the featured artist at the Los Alamos Co-op Market Artist Cafe through my landscape photography business, BrakeTime Photography. It was my first ever experience with this type of opportunity and I walked away far more encouraged by the people than the photography.

Peggy Dare Endorses Antonio Maggiore For Sheriff

By PEGGY DARE
Los Alamos

My vote is for Maggiore for Sheriff. Although his opponent has a respected history of service to Los Alamos, his opponent is running to eliminate the position of Sheriff totally. Taxpayers should not be funding him to pursue this.

Maggiore wants to do positive work for the community with the position.

The argument is made that the Sheriff in our unusual town no longer has a significant role. Well whose fault is that? We hear: “The police department does all the law enforcement duties.”  But that cannot be.

What is “law enforcement”? Public employees in general work in law Read More
