BANDELIER News:
Stage II Fire Restrictions will go into effect for Bandelier National Monument at midnight Wednesday, June 5, and will remain in effect until weather conditions change.
“These restrictions are a result of high fire danger, low fuel moistures, and regional fire preparedness level. We have been experiencing many warm windy days and these restrictions will reduce the threat of human caused fires in the monument,” Park Superintendent Jason Lott said.

Breaking all previous records, 1,917 people visited the White Rock Visitor Center over Memorial Day Weekend.
The Los Alamos Meeting and Visitor Bureau reports that the confirmed tally includes visitors who used the facility between May 24 and May 27. The busiest days were Sunday and Monday with 670 people visiting the facilty on Sunday alone.

When we hurt we often assume the worst. We become afraid and tentative with our bodies, telling ourselves that this much pain indicates major damage and will require a significant intervention to heal.

Camp Program Prepares Ranchers of Tomorrow
New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service has gathered youth ages 15-19 to participate in a unique summer experience June 9-14 at the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Co-sponsors include the New Mexico Beef Council.

National chemistry whiz Kevin Gao has qualified to compete for one of four spots on the U.S. team bound for the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), to be held this year in Moscow, Russia, July 15-24.
The announcement was made by the American Chemical Society.
Gso is a senior at Los Alamos High School. He will spend two weeks at an intensive chemistry study camp at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado and at the conclusion, the top four students will be named as members of the team.
