After that bit of “rant” on “double bagging” last week, I really want to offer you a “good” story. 

I am sure there are quite a few out there, but since I haven’t heard from anyone, I dug up an old story to share in this space.

Underground of Enchantments Opens April 5

Underground of Enchantment is a 3D photo exhibit featuring the beautiful, magical, microbial secrets of one of the most interesting caves in the world – Lechuguilla Cave in southeastern New Mexico.

The exhibit opens from 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, April 5 at Mesa Public Library Art Gallery and 5-6:30 p.m. at PEEC and continues through May 29.

The cave is part of Carlsbad Caverns National Park and the exhibit originated with and is traveled by Carlsbad Museum and Art Center.

March 14 is celebrated annually by students and staff at Los Alamos Middle School and this year’s theme was “π Round the World.”
 
The event is hosted by the math department under the direction of Clara Vigil. Albert Einstein was a special guest at the event. He shared with students that math is everywhere.
 
To amplify his point, he challenged students to use the sum of π to guess how many gum balls were in a jar.

Mesa Del Norte Apartments Get A Facelift

Los Alamos National Bank (LANB) and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) have announced that they have awarded a $252,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant to YES Housing, Inc. to assist with the rehabilitation of a dated apartment community on North Mesa in Los Alamos.

The grant funds are part of a $6.2 million project that will revitalize the property into a new and vibrant affordable housing community.
