Los Alamos High School To Host Arts & Music Festival

LAPS News:

The community is invited to enjoy an evening of arts and music at the annual Arts & Music Festival hosted by Los Alamos Public Schools (LAHS). This event will take place at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 23, at LAHS 1300 Diamond Drive.

The evening will include concerts by elementary, middle school and high school choirs as well as band and orchestra performances. The LAMS and LAHS jazz bands will also perform, along with several groups from the Jazz Project.

Registration for UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) summer and fall 2026 semesters is now open. Registration runs through June 5 for the summer and Aug. 28 for the fall, but is highly encouraged before the start of classes. The summer semester starts June 1 and the fall semester starts Aug. 17.

Earlier today, TechSource Chairman Brian D’Andrea of Los Alamos and a passenger walked away unharmed after the aircraft D’Andrea was piloting crashed near Ojo Santa Fe Resort.

Emergency systems on board the plane operated flawlessly, a spokesperson said. ensuring the safety of both individuals during the incident. As a precaution, D’Andrea and his passenger have undergone routine medical evaluations and have been released.

Today, Chief Dino Sgambellone released crime statistics for the first quarter of 2026, which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department.

It’s encouraging to see that the downward trend from 2025 is carrying into 2026, with a solid 10  percent year-over-year decrease in overall crime.

While Crimes Against Persons and Property Crimes are both trending down, the jump in Crimes Against Society (from 1 to 5) serves as a reminder to stay vigilant.
