SKI EVENT News:

Pajarito Mountain Ski Area and Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort are hosting a number of events in February.

February’s biggest and best events from each ski area include:

PAJARITO

  • 6th Annual K2 Women’s Weekend Feb. 6-8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A charity event to help raise funds for men and women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer.
  • K2 Demos for Women Feb. 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Women’s K2 Ski Demos plus ski clinics with Pete Giuliani, a PSIA Certified Level 3 alpine and telemark instructor. Pre-registration for clinics is recommended; visit pajaritowomen.org.
  • Beer & Bands Feb. 7, noon-5 p.m., Santa Fe Brewing provides local brews starting at noon, and DK and the Affordables plays live Classic Rockabilly music 3-5 p.m.
  • Ski Bike Demo Days – Sponsored by SkiBikeFun Feb. 14, Free weekend event includes demos, clinics and mountain tours and races.
  • K2 Women’s Weekend Pink Tie Affair Fundraiser Feb. 7, 6-9 p.m., The K2 Women’s Weekend at Pajarito Mountain invites you and your friends to our Pink Tie Affair silent auction fundraiser and an Evening of Jazz.
  • Beer & Bands Feb. 14, noon-5 p.m., Blue Heron Brewery provides local brews and wine starting at noon, and The Craig Martin Experience plays live jazz music 3-5 p.m.
  • Telebration Feb. 21-22, Come celebrate all things telemark with clinics and gear demos. The event features clinics by some of the highest level instructors in the Rocky Mountain region: four are PSIA-RM examiner level, one has been on the demo team and the education committee, and the lowest are level 3 certified instructors. 
  • Beer & Bands Feb. 21, noon-5 p.m., Marble Brewery provides local brews starting at noon, and Higher Ground plays live bluegrass music 3-5 p.m.

SIPAPU

  • SkiBike SkiBike Festival – Sponsored by SkiBikeFun Feb. 7-8, New Mexico’s only skibike festival, the 2015 New Mexico SkiBike Festival takes place February 7-8, 2015 and exclusively at Sipapu, 20 miles southeast of Taos. The FREE weekend event includes free demos from a variety of skibike manufacturers, free clinics and mountain tours, meet-and-greet events, a poker run and a special skibike light parade for skibikers only! Everyone who demos a skibike is automatically entered to win one: the drawing happens Sunday at 3 p.m. (you do not need to be present to win).   • February Fun Fest Feb. 14-16, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sipapu’s most popular – and FREE – family event, February Fun Fest has been a family-favorite for more than 50 years. The President’s Day weekend celebration includes a giant snow castle, a costume contest and parade (Saturday only), treasure hunts, games, prizes and more – all 20 miles southeast of Taos.   • Santa Fe Brewing Happy Hops Hunt 2 Feb. 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., During this scavenger hunt, Santa Fe Brewing will stash SFB cans stuffed with prizes all over the mountain at Sipapu (20 miles southeast of Taos). Redeem your prize at base area and enjoy SFB beer specials all evening!   • 2nd Annual Lloyd Bolander Memorial Day Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort is honored to pay tribute to our founder, Lloyd Bolander, during the second annual Lloyd Bolander Memorial Day. A portion of all lift ticket proceeds will go to the Bolander Fund, which the family started to help youth ski programs and needs.
