Pajarito Mountain in Los Alamos will open Friday, Dec. 15 – a week earlier than anticipated.
“We’ve dedicated considerable effort to enhancing Pajarito Mountain throughout the summer and fall. We are thrilled that our efforts plus Mother Nature are allowing us to open a week earlier than our scheduled opening date of Dec. 22,” new Pajarito General Manager Jasen Bellomy said. “I’d like to personally thank our small, but mighty, team of snowmakers, groomers, and maintenance team who have been working tirelessly to not only get the trails ready but have made the myriad improvements possible at Pajarito Mountain.”
The mountain is under the guidance of Bellomy and he and the team at Pajarito has undertaken several improvement projects over the summer and fall, including an overhaul of the snowmaking system with several new snowguns.
In addition, Pajarito has renovated its snow school building and locker room, reconfigured the Pajarito Mountain Cafe, renovated its lodge bathrooms, plus enhanced its grooming abilities. The rental shop has received new kids’ ski equipment. New this year, as well, the mountain will be opening Thursdays through Sundays, adding an extra day to the normal operating schedule of the past several years.

Pajarito has also revived its popular multi-week, Saturday-only ski camp for kids ages 7-12, Camp Bluebird. It is also offering Learn to Ski Thursdays beginning Jan. 11, which provides a FREE two-hour beginner lesson with the purchase of a lift ticket and rentals. The FREE lessons are also available every weekday during Spring Break March 11-15.
In addition, the popular school program for Los Alamos 5th-6th graders has returned to Pajarito. The mountain will also be hosting the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation youth program for nine weeks this winter.
The mountain’s FREE season pass program for children ages 12 and under, Power Kids, makes its return with a no-strings-attached offer for kids to ski FREE at Pajarito and nine other Mountain Capital partner resorts. Seniors ages 75 and up also get a free senior pass to Pajarito and the other MCP resorts.
