PEEC News:

While the current energy mix on our municipal grid is a combination of coal, hydro, utility scale solar and some distributed solar generation, Los Alamos County is poised on the cusp of an energy shift.

Smart grid technology that includes distributed energy storage, and generation and smart energy controls are just over the horizon and within our grasp. What would it take to move us off fossil fuels entirely? To learn the answer to this question and more, join an informal discussion with Karen Paramanandam at Nature on Tap, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at UnQuarked Wine Bar, 145 Central Park Square.

Nature on Tap, hosted by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), is part of an informal discussion series started by the Los Alamos Creative District. At each Nature on Tap event, a topic is introduced by a facilitator, and then it is opened up to the group for informal discussion.

Paramanandam will also address other important questions such as, how would this impact our rates and what would the long term costs be? Where does conservation and energy efficiency fit into this future plan?  What are the consequences of not transitioning and continuing on our current energy path?
