PEEC News:

Artist and instructor Lisa Coddington is returning to teach a one-day workshop on drawing and watercolor using botanical and natural subjects 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday June 1 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.

This class, made possible by Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), is great for all skill levels and is limited to 13 students. Register to learn techniques for creating realistic, still life, nature-inspired art.

Participants will explore pencil and watercolor techniques that portray plants and animals. With easy to understand demonstrations and master artist examples, Coddington will work to reinforce confidence in creating dimensional summer-themed subjects.

Coddington earned her Master of Art degree at Syracuse in Illustration. She has illustrated a children’s book and received commissions by regional and national firms for her artwork and art instruction. Her whimsical characters have been licensed for ornaments, featured on greeting cards and applied to home textiles for major retailers. She has exhibited at SURTEX Licensing show in New York City for seven years, and is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists.

Coddington has been teaching for more than 10 years, and is teaching at Santa Fe Community College. She also teaches specialized art retreats around New Mexico and the U.S.
