PEEC To Host Solar Car Racing & Electric Vehicle Show At ScienceFest Saturday July 13

PEEC News:

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is celebrating Los Alamos ScienceFest with its annual Electric Vehicle Show and Solar Car Racing.

The community is invited to join them 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at the Municipal parking lot (off Central) between the demo garden and the Police Station, northwest from Ashley Pond Park.

This event will feature a variety of electric-powered vehicles and bikes. Speak with owners about their experiences, discover the different features and styles, and explore options for electric transportation. Learn where Los Alamos gets its electricity and how the carbon footprints of electric vehicles compare to gas-powered vehicles.

Solar car races will take place at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Pick up a solar car kit from the Nature Center during open hours July 6-2 (while supplies last), or pick up and build a kit at the EV Show. All kits come with instructions, and participants are free to customize their car. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the races. Participants from last year’s ScienceFest are welcome to enter their cars.

Get Involved: Do you own an electric vehicle and want to share your experience with the community? Sign up to show your vehicle at PEEC’s Electric Vehicle Show. This event is part of ScienceFest and made possible by the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities.
