Years ago, while picking up my daughter from preschool, I found myself in an unprotected construction site. As I attempted to hop over a ditch, I suddenly tripped on an unseen line level. Like a door slamming shut, I fell fast onto the  hard packed dirt, leaving me momentarily immobile.

Compassionate construction workers came to my aid, lifting me to my feet and helping me walk. But the shocking incident left me with a newfound awareness of safety and the realization that this was not the proper way to get up after a fall. As the shock subsided, I faced a long road to recovery. Although grateful that nothing was broken, the impact had taken its toll on my muscles and connective tissue.

Of all the healing methods I tried, physical therapy proved to be the most effective. As my sessions neared their end, the Physical Therapy Assistant told me that consistent exercise was crucial to avoid returning to their office. Taking his words to heart, I embraced the responsibility of my well-being and delved into understanding why exercise kept me free of pain. I explored areas of core strength, balance techniques, and resistance training. I searched for clarity and evidence-based methods.

My journey of exploration and growth led me to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Exercise Science and a Nutrition Certificate. I also became an ACE certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor.

Today, one of my greatest joys lies in teaching, motivating, and training individuals at my private Los Alamos exercise studio and in client’s homes. My focus centers on women’s fitness; building core strength, enhancing balance, refining movement patterns, and improving overall body composition using  techniques that include resistance and interval training.
