Pig & Fig Cafe News:
Pig & Fig Cafe, a local staple of nearly 10 years, is announcing the end of dinner hours after Labor Day weekend to tackle some long-overdue maintenance in the afternoons and evenings. Over the years at this location, the team has battled the costly maintenance of renting an old building with old bones and poor insulation, leading to constant maintenance and outrageous utility costs.
But recently, executive owner and chef Laura Crucet has been offered the opportunity to purchase the Pig & Fig building from King Industries, a commercial real estate firm based out of Ruidoso.
This exciting development now allows Crucet to begin work on long-overdue upgrades and maintenance – HVAC upgrades, plumbing repairs, drywall and flooring repair, and more. In order not to have to close completely, Pig & Fig Cafe will be tackling this very necessary work in the afternoons and evenings.
“We know that many people will be disappointed, but we hope you understand that we want to be here for you for many years to come,” Crucet said. “We just need to give our 52 year old building some long overdue TLC, and focus on the hours that best serve the Los Alamos, White Rock, and tourism community.”
Pig & Fig will remain open for breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday and will continue to host private parties and wine dinners. Their robust catering services will also continue.
The team at Pig & Fig is grateful for nearly a decade of support from the community and for the patience with the upcoming changes. Buying the building and focusing efforts on breakfast and lunch allows for improvements and upgrades to the building and business as a whole, with the continuation of Pig & Fig’s beloved pastries, breakfast, and lunch! Pig & Fig will continue to be a White Rock staple for locals and tourists alike, and aims to best serve the community while this new chapter begins.
