COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Parks Division has announced that the Piñon Park Splash Pad at 10 Sherwood Blvd. in White Rock, will open to the public for the summer season, beginning Saturday, June 1 through Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2.
The facility’s opening was delayed one week after personnel discovered that the emergency call box, a safety feature mandated by the state of New Mexico for unsupervised facilities, was compromised due to some construction activity in the area. With the push of a button, the call box allows individuals to notify 9-1-1 of emergencies immediately. Multiple departments and contractors worked quickly to locate the issue and make the necessary repairs.
With Saturday’s opening, Park officials recommend adult supervision in the Splash Pad area since the facility is unsupervised. For safety and maintenance reasons, athletic or similar equipment is not allowed, animals are prohibited, and users are asked not to climb on the water features.
Additionally, community members are reminded to play safely, have fun and help keep the Piñon Park Splash Pad clean and in good condition for all to enjoy.
