COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Community Services Department is hosting a Grand Opening Celebration 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 5 of the Piñon Splash Pad in White Rock.
This event includes music, giveaways, activities, and fun splashing in the refreshing water.
The first 50 attendees will receive a special prize.
Los Alamos County officially opened the Piñon Splash Pad with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony June 11 celebrated by Council members, project architects, the construction crew and County staff. This event was relatively small due to the COVID-19 restrictions in effect at that time.
The Piñon Splash Pad is part of the Piñon Park (Rocket Park) and also close to the White Rock Branch Library, Youth Activity Center, restaurants, trails and other amenities with nearby parking conveniently located right off Sherwood Boulevard.
The Splash Pad is operational 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and scheduled to remain open until Labor Day weekend in September.
Adult supervision is recommended for the Splash Pad since it is an unsupervised facility. Athletic and similar equipment is not allowed, do not climb on the water features, animals are prohibited, and remember to play safely, and have fun.
