Public Hearing Scheduled On Proposed Service Changes For La Cienega, Carson Communities

NCRTD News:

ESPAÑOLA — The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) Board of Directors will hold a public hearing during its regularly scheduled meeting on Friday, August 1, 2025, to receive public comment on two proposed service changes that aim to improve transit access in Santa Fe and Taos counties.

The hearing will address proposed modifications to the La Cienega MyBlueTM microtransit service and the creation of a new fixed route serving the communities of Carson and Tres Orejas in Taos County.

The La Cienega proposal includes:

  • Expanding the La Cienega MyBlueTM zone to include the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
  • Increasing the number of daily operating hours within the zone.
  • Eliminating route 270 (NM-599 Station) and reallocating those resources into the expanded MyBlueTM zone to create a broader service window and larger service area.

Pending recruitment of an additional bus operator, these changes would be implemented in conjunction with the fall operator bid cycle beginning in October 2025.

The second proposal establishes a new Route 370 – Carson, providing scheduled service on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Carson, Tres Orejas, and destinations in the Town of Taos. Stops would include key locations such as the Taos County Administrative Complex, Kit Carson Park, and KTAO Solar Center, with service mirroring the existing Route 360 – Tres Piedras.

If approved by the Board, Route 370 is anticipated to begin service as early as September 2025, depending on permitting and bus stop construction requirements. These proposed enhancements align with NCRTD’s goals to increase regional connectivity and access to essential services, particularly for older adults, people with low incomes, and underserved communities.

The August 1 Board Meeting will take place at the NCRTD headquarters located at 1327 N. Riverside Drive, Española, NM, beginning at 9 a.m. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide input.
