N.M. 599 Bridge Work Starts Aug. 20

NMDOT is alerting motorists to bridge work starting on N.M. 599 on the northwest side of Santa Fe.
The project, which involves grinding, overlay, and joint replacement work, starts Monday, Aug. 20 and will be completed in two to three weeks, weather permitting.
The N.M. 599 bridges being worked on are over Via Abajo at mile marker 7.4, Camino La Tierra at mile marker 10.1, and Avenida Rincon at mile marker 13.9.
The work is being performed by two NMDOT contractors, Meridian and Villalobos Construction Company.

Students and staff were evacuated from Los Alamos Middle School today after a contractor operating a backhoe nicked a gas line.
“The call about the gas leak came in at 1:17 p.m. and LAFD and LAPD were on scene within four minutes,” said Los Alamos Deputy Fire Chief Justin Grider. “The contractor did shut off the gas prior to our arrival. Road Closure Sunday for 19th Annual Kids Triathlon
LOS ALAMOS RECREATION DIVISION News:
The Los Alamos Recreation Division will be holding the 19th annual Kids Triathlon Sunday, Aug. 19.
The following road closure will be in effect: Canyon Road will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 15th Street to Central Avenue.
Canyon Road will reopen at 3 p.m. from 15th Street to Central Avenue.
